Die neue Version des Tor-Browsers bringt neben Design-Änderungen und einem aktualisierten Firefox auch eine offizielle Android-Variante. Diese bietet zwar noch nicht alle Funktionen der Desktop-Version, soll aber bereits ein ähnliches Schutzniveau erreichen.
Mit der neuen Version 8.5 des Tor-Browsers erscheint erstmals auch die stabile Variante des Browsers für Android. Dieser kann über den Google Play Store und in Kürze auch über den freien App-Store F-Droid bezogen werden. Auch auf dem Desktop kann der Tor-Browser mit neuen Funktionen aufwarten. Die Sicherheitsstufen können nun über die Browser-Einstellungen gesetzt werden und haben ein eigenes Icon in der Symbolleiste erhalten. Auch das Logo des Tor-Browsers und die about:tor Startseite wurde einem Redesign unterworfen. Der zugrundeliegende Firefox wird auf die Version 60.7.0esr (Extended Support Release) aktualisiert, welche mehrere Sicherheitslücken schließt. (Quelle: Golem)

Der doch ziemlich gewaltige Versionssprung von Vers. 8.0.9 / 8.0.x auf die jetzige Version 8.5.0 / 8.5.x soll wohl gleichzeitig verdeutlichen, dass ausser dem ersten Stable-Release des Android-Browsers auch die großen Fehler der vergangenen Versionen bereinigt wurden!
